Baltic Meeting in Turku, Finland June 9–11, 2011

Turku is the European Capital of Culture 2011 concurrently with Tallinn, Estonia. That’s why we have Estonian poetry and a poetry slam country cup between Finland and Estonia on the menu. Belarussian literature and the current culture climate including children’s literature, is also on focus along with the Dictator himself.

Friday June 10

10.00 - WORD POWER
The current culture climate of Belarus will be discussed in Restaurant Koulu. Performances by Andrey Chadanovich, Sergey Pukst and Anka Upala

 14.00 - THE POWER OF CHILDRENS’ LITERATURE
Linda Bondestam, Stella Parland, Janek Öller and Ulf Stark  - a verbal and visual happening in Restaurant Koulu

 18.00 - ALL THE TIME I’M THINKIN ABOUT MONEY, CONTEMPORARY ESTONIAN POETRY
at the Library Court with Estonian poets Eva Park, Elo Viiding, Asko Künnap and Jan Kaus. Hosted by Joni Pyysalo.

23.00 - BALTICSLAM, POETICAL BATTLE
between Estonia and Finland at the Monk. Tapani Kinnunen, Eeva Park, Heli Slunga, Elo Viiding, Henry Lehtonen, Jan Kaus, Solja Krapu and Asko Künnap. Hosted by Esa Hirvonen.

Saturday, June 11.

 19.00-21.00 - OPEN STAGE, POETRY AND MUSIC
